MBA Team Places 2nd in Regional SHRM Case Competition
May 15, 2013
Congratulations to the UTEP MBA student team that competed this past April in the Regional SHRM Case Competition and placed second! Diana Aranda, Mario Boisselier, Claudia De La Rosa, Luis Gonzales, Michelle Luevano and Araceli Vega trained hard for their first case completion. All five are members of the Full Time MBA program at the UTEP College of Business Administration.
“The SHRM Case Competition was a great experience! I really enjoyed working alongside my MBA cohort team members. It gave us the opportunity to work as a team in a time constrained environment. All our hard work and preparation paid off. Best of all, we were able to represent UTEP and bring home second place! Go Miners!” said Luis Gonzalez.
It is the first time our Full time MBAs participated in this competition and only the second time our students have competed in a regional/national case competition.
20 Teams of 2-6 students competed in the case solving competition and put their HR knowledge to the test. In this realistic job preview, teams collaborated to create a solution to the scenario provided.
“We feel overjoyed to bring Second Place back home! After many months of training we saw all our efforts pay off. In the competition we were able to apply many of the models and concepts we have learned through out the course of our MBA program. We thank all of our professors and look forward to compete again! Over all it was a great learning, networking, and fun experience,” said Araceli Vega.
These are the Graduate Division results for the competition:
- Thunderbird School of Management
- University of Texas at El Paso
- Texas A&M
- University of Utah
- Texas Women’s University
