Certificate of Accountancy

The Certificate of Accountancy is designed for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited business school. The degree consists of a four graduate core accounting courses required and approved by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy so that students will qualify for candidacy to take the CPA examination, and a graduate elective accounting course in the student’s area of interest.

Specific Requirements for the Certificate of Accountancy Degree

Students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited business school will need to consult with the graduate accounting advisor as to the leveling requirements to become eligible for admission to the Certificate of Accountancy program.

ACCT 5302 Advanced Accounting
ACCT 5315 Professional Writing for Accountants
ACCT 5328 Federal Income Tax – Partnerships and Corporations
ACCT 5329 Ethics in Accounting
Accounting Electives (3 semester hours)
Subject to the approval of the graduate accounting advisory, students are to take one graduate elective accounting course.
