UTEP MBA Program Earns Additional National Accolades

The University of Texas at El Paso’s M.B.A. program has been recognized as among the “Best of the Best” for women and Hispanics in 2012 by quarterly national journals published by DiversityComm, Inc.

Professional Woman’s Magazine and Hispanic Network Magazine based their decision on factors such as outreach, accessibility, diversity and efforts to improve opportunities for women and Hispanics to advance in their fields.

Robert Nachtmann, D.B.A., dean of UTEP’s College of Business Administration, said the acknowledgment is a testament to the work his faculty and staff began six years ago to transform M.B.A. education for individuals with a passion for organizational leadership and management.

He said the program embraced the simple principle that managerial talent is a learned integration of leadership and business disciplines and not an intrinsic trait of gender, privilege or ethnic background. 

Nachtmann said: “We are certainly proud of this recognition for our M.B.A. program and for the region. It affirms to some degree that we are realizing the goals that were set, energizes us to work harder, and deepens our commitment to excellence for the students that we serve.”

Laura Uribarri, assistant dean for M.B.A. programs, called this latest honor a wonderful affirmation for University students, alumni, faculty and staff, and a signal to prospective employers, students and corporate partners about the value of a UTEP M.B.A.

“Our students have the distinct advantage of being a part of a culturally diverse and gender balanced M.B.A. program within a dynamic global business setting,” she said. “This ranking speaks to the importance of gender and cultural diversity in graduate business education and recognizes the success of the UTEP M.B.A. program in cultivating that environment.”

The University’s M.B.A. program also recently was ranked 28th among the world’s top 35 “Rising Star” business schools by FindyourMBA.com, a European-based Internet company. These are the latest accolades heaped on the program that has been rated No. 1 among business graduate schools the past three years in Hispanic Business magazine.

Professional Woman’s Magazine promotes the advancement of multicultural and diverse women in all aspects of business, employment and education. Hispanic Network Magazine is focused on improving minority access to business and career opportunities.
