Our MBA program is designed for students from a wide range of backgrounds who are looking for a graduate business education with a dynamic international focus. By offering a menu of flexible schedules and class formats, the MBA Program meets the needs of full-time students and working professionals alike. Our students bring professional perspectives to the classroom from industries ranging from healthcare, engineering, education, to cross-border business. Today, the MBA program serves a diverse population of over 400 students from more than 20 countries.


In 2009, UTEP MBA was ranked 2nd in the nation for Hispanic students by Hispanic Business magazine. This follows a directed effort to develop a competitive MBA curriculum, expand outreach and recruitment efforts, support student success, and diversify the faculty. In keeping with our mission of excellence and access, UTEP’s MBA programs combine quality graduate business education and affordability.

Flexible MBA

The Flexible MBA is a professionally recognized graduate business format that is available to full-time or part-time students, at an affordable cost. This 48 credit-hour format allows students to choose from six areas of concentration to focus their MBA studies. The MBA courses, taught by distinguished professors, are offered in the evenings. Part-time students can complete the Flexible MBA curriculum in three years. Full-time students can complete the program in two years. Students can adjust their course load based on their availability from semester to semester.

The Accelerated MBA (AMBA) is a fast-track, cohort style MBA option that combines quality, convenience, and affordability for the region’s working professionals. Through the AMBA, students can complete their MBA degree in just two years by attending class twice a week at an easily accessible off-campus location. Students advance through the 48 hour curriculum in six week lock-step modules. UTEP offers the only AACSB-accredited AMBA program in the region.

International MBA

The International MBA is a full-time program that delivers an interdisciplinary curriculum in a dynamic cross-border setting with a global focus. Students receive language instruction in business related Chinese and Spanish. The international faculty brings their industry and research expertise to the classroom. Additionally, students have the opportunity to expand their classroom through a series of international travel and research engagements. Financial support is available for eligible applicants.

Executive MBA

Graduate Business Center Grand Opening

The Executive MBA (EMBA) is an 18-month cohort format that serves business leaders with at least 8 years of managerial experience who are looking to enhance their skills and effectiveness. EMBA courses are offered every other week (twice monthly) on Friday and Saturday with two courses being offered every 5 weeks. Classes are held from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Additionally, the EMBA features an International Research Course that includes a 7-9 day study abroad experience. Courses are held at the UTEP Graduate Business Center. EMBA cohorts range between 20-30 students. The curriculum consists of a 48 credit-hour program that includes 12 specially designed modules. Applications for the January 2011 EMBA cohort are being accepted.

AACSB Accreditation

UTEP offers the only AACSB Accredited MBA program in the El Paso/Cd. Juarez region. The UTEP College of Business Administration has earned AACSB Accreditation for both its Business Administration and Accounting programs. Less than 5 percent of business schools world-wide have earned this prestigious designation from AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—which provides global leadership in advancing management education.
