MBA Programs
Our MBA program is designed for students from a wide range of backgrounds who are looking for a graduate business education with a dynamic international focus. By offering a menu of flexible schedules and class formats, the MBA Program meets the needs of full-time students and working professionals alike. Our students bring professional perspectives to the classroom from industries ranging from healthcare, engineering, education, to cross-border business.
No leveling classes are required for non-business undergraduate majors. Today, the MBA program serves a diverse population of over 300 students from more than 20 countries.
In 2010, 2011, and 2012 UTEP MBA was ranked #1 in the nation by Hispanic Business magazine. This follows a directed effort to develop a competitive MBA curriculum, expand outreach and recruitment efforts, support student success, and diversify the faculty. In keeping with our mission of excellence and access, UTEP’s MBA programs combine quality graduate business education and affordability.
For Working Professionals
The Accelerated MBA (AMBA) is a fast-track, cohort style MBA option that combines quality, convenience, and affordability
for the region’s working professionals. Through the AMBA, students can complete their MBA degree in just two years by attending class twice a week at the
UTEP Graduate Business Center in downtown El Paso. Students advance through the 48 hour curriculum in six week lock-step modules. UTEP offers the only
AACSB-accredited AMBA program in the region.
For Executives
The Executive MBA (EMBA) is an 18-month cohort format that serves business leaders with at least 8 years of managerial
experience who are looking to enhance their skills and effectiveness. EMBA courses are offered every other week (twice monthly) on Friday and Saturday
with two courses being offered every 5 weeks. Classes are held from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Additionally, the EMBA features an International Research Course
that includes a 7-9 day study abroad experience. Courses are held at the UTEP Graduate Business Center. EMBA cohorts range between 20-30 students. The
curriculum consists of a 48 credit-hour program that includes 12 specially designed modules. Applications for the January 2012 EMBA cohort are being accepted.
For Full-Time Students
The Full-Time MBA is a 22 month day-time program that delivers an interdisciplinary curriculum in a dynamic cross-border setting with a
global focus. Students receive language instruction in business related Chinese and Spanish. The international faculty brings their industry and research expertise
to the classroom. Additionally, students have the opportunity to expand their classroom through a series of international travel and research engagements. Financial
support is available for eligible applicants.
AACSB Accreditation
UTEP offers the only AACSB Accredited MBA program in the El Paso/Cd. Juarez region. The UTEP College of Business Administration
has earned AACSB Accreditation for both its Business Administration and
Accounting programs. Less than 5 percent of business schools world-wide have
earned this prestigious designation from AACSB International—The Association
to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—which provides global leadership in
advancing management education.
