Dr. Patricia Eason joined the Department of Accounting as an Assistant Professor in September, 1995. A CPA, she received her B.B.A. in Accounting (1981) and MS in Taxation (1985) from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Ph.D. In Accounting (1994) from Texas Tech University. She came to El Paso from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Dr. Easonis a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Taxation Association, and the National Tax Association. She is the recipient of the 1987 Distinguished Professional Publication Award for the College of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Arlington and has published articles in Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Extractive Industries in Accounting, Taxes: The Tax Magazine, CCH's Financial and Estate Planning, Taxation for Accountants and in the Journal of the American Association of Individual Investors. During her time in Jacksonville, Dr. Eason, served as Vice-President of Finance and on the Executive Committee for Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida and on the Managing Board of Directors. At UTEP, Dr. Eason has served as Faculty Advisor for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and Chair of the Women's Advisory Committee to the President. Her research interests lie in the area of tax policy and the effects of uncertainty on taxpayer decision making processes.
